It won't discourage me from visiting Las Vegas. Heck! There's crime and car crashes in my town which has been deemed one of the safest small cities in the country. Did 9/11 stop people from flying or visiting NYC? No. I was in Dallas, TX Union station in 1993 when there was a potential shooting situation that didn't happen but it ended with only the man with the gun ending up dead. But it didn't keep me from riding trains. You can't stop all crime, it's going to happen wherever and whenever, so hopefully nobody gets deterred from visiting Las Vegas. BTW, I know a couple of people vacationing there right now, who were fortunately in their hotel room nearby sleeping away when this latest incident happened.

Funny, I don't live in Vegas, but dreamed prominently about Bill's last night. This is really a shame, especially if they get rid of the old Vegas facade wrapped around the front and side of the building and the classic interior. An example of a redo done right is Tropicana vs, tearing down a structure only to leave a blank lot in the end. But really hope too much doesn't change.

While I may not be in the market for what they're selling, it makes buying things from Gold and Silver more accessible for those unable to make it to Las Vegas. Though I visit at least once annually, myself. Between Pawn Stars and Ghost Adventures, it's fun knowing that Vegas can turn out quality programming just like LA and New York City. And I'd rather look at the scenery that is the LV Valley than the smog of L.A. and the NY skyline.

While I don't blame Caesar's Entertainment for overlooking some underage gamblers/drinkers, there needs to be more oversight in the whole industry. And not to tell the casinos to help parents do their job as parents, it should be highly discouraged that parents of children small enough to fit into strollers bring their young ones to Vegas with them on vacation. If they do, then the parents should have the common sense not to bring their minors to the casino floors and establishments that serve alcohol if they can help it. And casinos should ask loitering families on the floor and in bars to leave for more family friendly venues such as food courts, arcades like at Excalibur/Circus Circus, and the large garden areas like Bellagio to rest. I personally have never seen so many young kids as I did in my recent visit to Las Vegas let alone older minors. I understand it's summer, but Disney Land, Lake Mead, and other family friendly tourism centers are available. Enough with the kids and older underage people in Vegas, it's an adult playground!

As long as they don't change too much about the place. Downtown Vegas may soon try to be like the ultra clubby Strip. Hope not. I like to gamble a little and enjoy a pool, buffet and that's about it.

Vegas is supposed to be an adults playground as the article says it is being marketed for. I'm all for families having fun on vacation but there are other places for people to go for that: Disney Land if one is on the West Coast, Disney World and other Orlando, FL. attractions. Disney also offers cruises for everyone.
On one of my last trips to Vegas, I could not believe the lack of oversight on the part of casinos and the lack of judgement for the parents. Strollers should never be seen in a place with scantily clad dancers at the gaming tables. And I have seen parents park their kids on a seat in front of a slot machine to rest or wait for the rest of their group. My grandma once had that bad oversight and gave my mom a quarter while in Vegas in the 50s and she got in trouble for putting that quarter in a machine and pulling the lever.
I watch Vegas Strip (Tru TV) which is a documentary-style show following Vegas cops on The Strip who say it is a family friendly spot and perps should be considerate of that. Families can go to The Strip, just when all members are adults.

One of the reasons Vegas isn't doing as well as it did in it's heyday is that it stopped catering to the value-conscious gambler. There are casinos popping up everywhere these days. Why pay for an expensive plane ticket to Vegas when you can gamble in your backyard? I personally go to Vegas for the cheap slots, buffets, scenery, and comped cocktails when I play. I also sometimes get free rooms. The club scene only attracts a small niche one that ignores the over 40 crowd unless you expect them to tolerate the over loud music and overpriced drinks.

It figures. Cosmopolitan as well as Aria in City Center focus more on the club scene than gaming. It is virtually inaccessible gambling. As a low-paying slot gambler, I merely pass through these casinos since they lack true penny slots. The ones they have have a 5 cent minimum. Clubs are not what I go to Vegas for, it's the cheap thrill of the games and inexpensive, non-club entertainment.

The only time I remember flying Spirit, it was on one of their "cheap" fares. I spent less than $50 round-trip and most of it was taxes and fees. And they dramatically changed the outbound flight time to a later time after my booking the ticket! Granted they are still cheaper than Delta, the only other airline I fly, the fees for carrying on a suitcase are ridiculous. And I am not a high-maintenance traveler by any means but I remember a time when the airlines fed you on flights that took several hours. The least I should expect now is an in-flight beverage included in the fare, which Spirit doesn't have. All I want is a can of Coke or juice to keep me going through the 4-hour flight to Vegas. It's too bad Spirit has ruined things for all airlines. I used to check my luggage in, got on and off the plane with ease and much quicker than now when I have to find a spot to put my carry-on and then retrieve the luggage upon leaving the plane. The boarding and off-boarding process has gotten a lot slower and the overall experience has declined. Just let me know upfront how much things are going to cost me. Stupid $2 fee!
