It probably won't affect tourism much but these types of events impeded our ability to diversify our economy. Most business people have families. High violent crime and poor health care and education reduce the chances of getting the best and brightest. We need these folks to grow and strengthen the Nevada economy.

During the financial crisis the United States lost $20 trillion of wealth. People have only gotten a few trillion back from the stock market which is doubled and a mild real estate recovery. It takes decades to recover from these types of losses. I believe we still have years of difficult times ahead of us.

It's these "strategic defaults" that are killing prices. The falling prices are a major cause of the huge decline in median net worth. Americans are trying to pay 2012 prices for goods and services when they have 1992 net worth.
Our irresponsible neighbors are killing us financially! There is nothing OK about millions refusing to pay their bills.

To a large extent our entire economy is based on people paying for the goods and services they receive, including homes. When half don't believe this it's debatable whether you still have a capitalist structure. Mortgage defaults, credit card defaults, medical defaults.....give me a break!
A strategic default is still a default.

People and corporations have an ethical responsibility to pay the bills. People get hurt when they don't. A shame only half believe that.
Vegaslee is dead on!

Good for Elaine! I wish her the best of luck. Nevada along with some hard work and a good loving wife made Wynn one of the wealthiest men in the world. What does he do? He dumps his wife and Nevada, buys a $70 million apartment in New York and a yacht off the coast of France. This from a guy who says he hates taxes and government regulations.
