A pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit today by a pickup, which then fled the area, according to a Metro Police news release.
The collision occurred on South 4th Street, south of East Charleston Boulevard at about 11:40 a.m.
The truck drove onto the sidewalk, running over two pedestrians who were lying down, before driving away, the release stated.
A 28-year-old woman was transported to UMC Trauma, where she was in critical condition as of about 7:10 p.m. Kenneth Burney, 51, also suffered minor injuries and was discharged, according to the release.
The collision remains under investigation.
