Erica Mosca went to seven different schools growing up and experienced the same educational inequity at each. With the help of a nonprofit she joined in high school, Mosca went on to attend and graduate from college—becoming the first person in her family to do so. Mosca wanted to elevate opportunities for others in the same way.

Mosca began her career as a fifth-grade teacher, where the theme of her classroom was “leaders in training.” Once those students began ninth grade, she officially launched her nonprofit of the same name to support them and their families. What started as a small-scale endeavor eight years ago has grown to serve more than 500 students—and members of that first cohort are now college graduates and diverse leaders in our community.

It is Mosca’s goal to end systemic and structural inequities in every sector and in every community. She believes it’s imperative to be an active member of the community and to achieve the change you wish to see.
