Contractors are responsible for building homes, offices, schools and roads—creating the infrastructure that defines and shapes our community. The construction industry also provides thousands of jobs for Southern Nevadans. The impact of this industry is felt by all those that live, work and visit here.

Vegas Inc has partnered with the Nevada Contractors Association for the 18^th year to honor the valley’s best general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and professional service providers. The Contractor of the Year Awards recognize the most impressive and prestigious projects, industry leaders and innovations in building—as chosen by association members. These awards are among the industry’s highest and most coveted honors.

General Contractor of the Year: The Penta Building Group

The PENTA Building Group was founded 20 years ago in Las Vegas and has grown into a nationally recognized contractor, serving communities in Southern Nevada, California and Arizona. PENTA is all about people, and this drives every aspect of the way the company does business.

Pilot Thomas Logistics

Pilot Thomas Logistics, formerly Haycock Petroleum, has been part Nevada’s development for the past 58 years. Currently serving 31 states, Nevada remains the home base of where it all began.

M.J. Dean Construction

Since 1989, M.J. Dean Construction, Inc. has provided an integrated source of consulting, cost analysis, construction, operations and project management services for major commercial projects in the Las Vegas area. It has managed billions of dollars in contracts and overseen the construction of some of the most recognizable, high-profile megaresorts and high-rise condominiums in Las Vegas, including the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Palms Place and Cannery Casinos.

Grand Canyon Development Partners

In 2009, Grand Canyon Development Partners moved its headquarters from Arizona to Las Vegas, and rebranded and restructured into a full-service real estate development and project management company. It now offers a complete spectrum of services to facilitate all processes for owners and developers of real estate projects, including real estate development management, project and program management services, lender services, tenant coordination and energy and sustainability solutions.

Martin-Harris Construction

From its laborers to project managers, Martin-Harris Construction fosters a company culture focused on safety. MHC has been committed to keeping its workplace as safe as possible for over four decades and believes that project excellence is only achievable when safe practices are learned, drilled and followed every day.

U.S. 95 Realignment Project Goldfield, NV

The U.S. 95 Realignment Project near Goldfield, Nevada, was completed by Ames Construction to realign 2.5 miles of the existing highway in preparation of the Gemfield Mine site. The project goals included completing all phases safely with no incidents, achieving substantial completion on an accelerated time frame, minimizing impacts to the traveling public, complying with all applicable environmental requirements and all federal, state and county laws and ordinances, and obtaining all necessary approvals for acceptance by NDOT for the completed work.

KOR Building Group's Rebecca Fountain

Construction-industry veteran Rebecca Fountain founded general contracting firm KOR Building Group in 2013 with a focus on residential renovations, government contracting, hotel remodels and commercial construction. Perhaps of equal importance, Fountain built KOR on a foundation of inclusivity and diversity.

Veterans Village Proud Mary Fogerty Container Home Project

The proudest moment of the past year for Builders United was opening The Proud Mary Fogerty Container Home Project by Veterans Village. The project was the first officially permitted use of shipping containers as permanent homes in Southern Nevada and was fully funded and built by support and donations from local companies. “This project demonstrates our appreciation for our veterans, our passion for Las Vegas and our commitment to the communities that we serve,” said Kallen Kildea, president of Builders United.

Paccar Parts Distribution Center

The PACCAR Parts Distribution Center in North Las Vegas, completed by Martin-Harris Construction, sits on 18 acres and consists of a 253,000-square-foot distribution area that includes a 20,000-square-foot mezzanine and an 8,900-square-foot office. The project site features an exterior covered courtyard adjacent to the office break room, desert landscaping, architectural split face CMU site walls with steel picket fence and vehicle-access sliding steel electrically operated site gates.

Caesars Forum Convention Center

Caesars Forum Convention Center, constructed by The PENTA Building Group, is a 550,000 square-foot LEED Gold Certified conference facility. The $365 million conference center sits on 24.5 acres and is the first facility of its size built on one level. It includes the two largest pillar-less ballrooms in North America—each at 110,000 square feet with 315-foot clear span trusses. Additionally, the facility includes more than 300,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, two 40,000-square-foot ballrooms, six state-of-the-art boardrooms, 100,000 square feet of multipurpose outdoor space known as The FORUM Plaza and three pedestrian bridges.

Live Electric

As a diverse business itself, Live Electric makes a calculated effort to buy from, contract with and collaborate with other diverse business enterprises—using 20% diverse companies this past year to complete its 26 projects.

Ashley Herndon

Ashley Herndon has been a member of NCA for seven years and serves on the Ambassadors and Construction Leadership Council committees. As a member of CLC since 2015, Herndon has participated in several of CLC's outreach projects, such as Rebuild Together, CARE Complex, Gentlemen by Choice, Vegas Roots, The Healing Wall and B-Beautiful.

Fasteners Inc.

Fasteners Inc. has been a proud member of the NCA since 1993 and has made a concerted effort to increase its presence and role within the organization. Fasteners has actively recruited new members in hopes to help continue to grow the association.

Safety is a core value at KHS&S Contractors, as demonstrated by consistent risk innovation, comprehensive training available to all employees, leadership support, and the role modeling of all safety policies and procedures every day by each employee.

Trinity Land Surveying

Opened in 2012, Trinity Land Surveying is a certified Woman Owned Small Business (WBE/WOSB) and signatory with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 12, offering full-service professional land surveying and 3D scanning. The NCA and its Diversity and Inclusion Council is credited for helping TLS through the certification process. Now, TLS has grown from three survey crews to 14 in just a few years.

Keith Mantis

Longtime industry leader Keith Mantis founded and was the principal owner of Fasteners Inc. A true entrepreneur with a tireless work ethic, Mantis started San Diego Fasteners in a storage unit in San Diego in 1987. In 1993, Mantis founded Fasteners Inc. Southwestern Supply in Las Vegas and grew the company to one of the construction supply industry’s largest and most well-respected organizations.
