A Strip casino plans to permanently lay off nearly 100 employees, according to a notice sent to state officials.

Through a letter dated Aug. 10, Casino Royale executives alerted the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation that it planned to let go of 98 employees due to hardships brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Among those laid off were 49 casino dealers and 12 from the housekeeping department.

The letter, which was added to DETR’s webpage Friday, was sent in adherence to the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Act.

The Casino Royale complex, at 3411 S. Las Vegas Boulevard, includes 152 Best Western Plus hotel rooms.
