Revel Nevada, a senior living community at 1525 Wigwam Parkway in Henderson, hosted a charity art exhibit to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Alzheimer’s Association. The art was created by residents of the community.

The Mayor’s Fund for Las Vegas LIFE has received more than $600,000 in donations less than six months after the fund was established. The fund provides a vehicle for companies and individuals in the private sector to support key city initiatives. Major donations have been made by AT&T, Cox Charities, Dollar Loan Center, the Greater Good Council, the Jameson Family Trust, MGM Resorts International, Rich Worthington/The Molasky Group of Companies and Wells Fargo.

Poet’s Walk Henderson received a 2019 Employee Approved Award from NRC Health, a company that provides data for health care companies. The award recognizes 20 independent-living, assisted-living, or skilled-nursing organizations across the country for engaging and inspiring their employees. Winners were selected according to the results from NRC Health’s 2018 Employee Experience Survey.

As a part of the Simon Supports Education initiative, Las Vegas North & South Premium Outlets awarded $1,500 scholarships to three local high school students. Las Vegas North Premium Outlets recognized Luz De La Mora of Advanced Technologies Academy, who plans to attend Columbia University this fall. Las Vegas South Premium Outlets recognized Cherie Victoria Bello of Sierra Vista and Claire Binfield of Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas. Bello plans to attend Northeastern University. Binfield plans to attend Mitchell College.

The grand prize winner of De Castroverde Law Group’s Spring 2019 Teacher Appreciation award is Lisa Wekerle of Richard Bryan Elementary. Wekerle received $750 for classroom supplies, a $250 Amazon gift card and a one-year membership to Discovery Children’s Museum. Other teachers honored include Megan Prater of Cyril Wengert Elementary, who received $500 for classroom supplies, a $200 Amazon gift card and tickets to Discovery Children’s Museum. Lloyd Goldberg of Jerome Mack Middle School received $250 for classroom supplies, a $100 Amazon gift card and tickets to Discovery Children’s Museum.

Nevada HAND and NV Energy received more than $491,000 from the Low Income Solar Energy Program to benefit low-income housing communities in Southern Nevada. The program, a joint effort of NV Energy and the Governor’s Office of Energy, offers incentives for solar photovoltaic systems to serve low-income populations. The program has provided solar installations at Nevada HAND’s Sierra Pines, Boulder Pines, Rose Gardens, and other affordable apartment communities throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada gave 3,600 boxes of cookies to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.

The Project 150 Youth Council celebrated its 10th anniversary by awarding more than $90,000 in scholarship money to local students at its annual luncheon—the most awarded in the history of the nonprofit. The funds are going to more than 40 students served by Project 150 who will use the money to attend Nevada colleges, universities or accredited vocational training institutes.

Boulder City received $1,346,744 from an anonymous donor to be used for the community pool in Broadbent Park.

Nevada HAND, in partnership with Three Square Food Bank, opened a food pantry at the Rochelle Pines Apartment Homesat 4285 Hildebrand Lane, Las Vegas. The property is home to about 140 low-income senior residents. The food pantry will offer food provided by Three Square on a regular basis. There will be a pantry manager on site to support with healthy meal planning, nutrition assistance and other resources.

The Public Education Foundation awarded a record $2.6 million in scholarships to Nevada students at its scholarship luncheon June 3. Since 1995, more than $15 million in scholarships have been awarded to more than 5,200 students.

Impact Las Vegas, a Nevada nonprofit women’s collective giving organization in its sixth grant year, voted to award a $50,000 grant to Eye Care 4 Kids, which provides comprehensive vision care services to children in the Clark County School District at little to no charge. With the grant, the agency will be able to create the Patient Eyeglass Replacement Fund.

Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada received $2,510 in donations from One Nevada Credit Union’s annual spring shred event.

Blue Man Group Las Vegas raised $9,500 for Grant a Gift Autism Foundation at its fifth annual sensory-friendly benefit performance. The show was suitable for children and adults on the autism spectrum.

Planet Fitness opened a gym within the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada at 800 N. Martin Luther King Blvd., Las Vegas. It’s part of Planet Fitness’ national philanthropic initiatives and a $1.3 million commitment to Boys & Girls Clubs of America and STOMP Out Bullying.

Walker Furniture donated six new mattresses, foundations and protectors to Firehouse Station 33at 865 E. Desert Inn Road, Las Vegas, as part of the company’s “Project Firehouse: Rested & Ready.”

The NV Energy Foundation donated $10,000 to Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada to support workforce training.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development gave $800,000 to the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe under the Indian Community Development Block Grant Program for a gymnasium and wellness center to be constructed on the tribe’s downtown reservation.

City National Bank donated $5,000 to Three Square Food Bank for the Bag Childhood Hunger Program. The funds were matched by the Bennett Family Foundation, giving Three Square a total of $10,000.
