Entrepreneur: ‘The same things that make what I am doing scary are the things that make it special’

Natalia Harris owns Glam Parlor, which opened this year in Las Vegas.

Natalia Harris spent 12 years in marketing for the nightlife industry — event planning, event production, artist relations and more. So she knows what people who want to be seen want to look like. And this year, she took the plunge into entrepreneurship, applying the lessons learned in her previous career to open Glam Parlor.

What sets Glam Parlor apart?

Glam Parlor is a real-life Princess Cave. Not only do we have talented artists but we create an entire experience for the guest from the moment they step in the door. Our lobby features large chandeliers, couture furniture and a working cotton candy machine.

In addition, we place a huge emphasis on lash health. We are not only here to make your lashes healthy but we want to have a long-term relationship with them.

Who are your clients?

No matter age or race, everyone wants to feel beautiful, so our clients can really be anyone. We have a variety of lash and brow services that cater to all types of people and we can customize the service so it is completely unique for each guest.

What is your business philosophy?

A successful business is all about combining quality service with a great experience. It is important for our customers to feel like they are part of something special and exclusive.

What’s the best business advice you’ve received?

“All things great are scary!”

Sometimes it’s hard not to get overwhelmed while starting and running a business. It’s also a lot of pressure, and at times this can be really scary. I have learned to use that as motivation rather than as a deterrent. It can be easy to get overwhelmed and want to give up, but I just have to remind myself that the same things that make what I am doing scary are the things that make it special and important. Nothing good comes easy.

What is the best part about doing business in Las Vegas?

Las Vegas is the capital of entertainment and thrives on all things new and cutting-edge, and this is so exciting to be a part of. Having a business here helps you stay on your A game. You have to stay relevant and keep up with trends and changes and that keeps things exciting.

What obstacles has your business overcome?

We just opened a month ago, so right now we are focused on spreading the word and getting new customers in the door. The biggest obstacle is just getting all the princesses in Vegas to find out we exist.
