Posted on: Will Strip shootout and crash hurt Las Vegas tourism?

Posted on: Las Vegas sets record with 39.7 million visitors in 2012
This visitation number, correlated historically with previous years, can economically sustain a thriving metro population of about 1.7 million. It's nice that the visitor numbers have grown while the resident numbers have declined, though we are still out of balance by about 200,000 residents.

Posted on: Las Vegas one of the worst areas to buy bank-owned home, report says
The conclusion is based on the projected months of foreclosure inventory available, as delineated in paragraphs three and five. The article offers no conclusions about whether Las Vegas homes are a good investment, only about the expected difficulty in buying a foreclose home here versus other markets.
Also, the article says little about our economic situation, and what it says (far fewer foreclosed homes available) can be seen as positive, not negative.
