Southern Nevada teams that placed in the 2017 Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup include RAD and Window Magic, which placed first and second in the graduate division, and GameTrainer, which placed second in the undergraduate level. RAD, a team project from UNLV, stands for resilient arthroplasty device, new and patented technology for knee pain and total knee arthroplasty (replacements). Window Magic’s technology can enhance or completely alter the view out of any resort suite window. GameTrainer is an esports website in which users learn how to improve at video games, and get trained and coached by top-ranking competitive players.
Summerlin Hospital is expanding and renovating multiple areas within the 454-bed acute care hospital as part of a $16 million capital improvement project. Key elements include adding 36 medical-surgical beds and expanding the Birthplace at Summerlin Hospital by adding an operating suite, expanding the maternal triage area and increasing the newborn nursery capacity. Additionally, the Children’s Medical Center pediatric unit will undergo renovations.
