Dr. Laura Culley, UNLV School of Medicine associate dean for community engagement, was named the Southern Nevada Health District’s Public Health Hero for her efforts to develop a Mobile Health Collaborative. The award is presented each year to an individual or an organization whose efforts positively affect the health and well-being of the community. Culley is a member of the Community Health Improvement Plan’s Access to Care workgroup, which aims to provide health care resources to the public by overcoming barriers such as transportation and availability of resources.

CAMCO homeowners association management company was purchased by HOA Capital Inc. Previous owner Randy Watkins will stay with the company in a senior operational management role through the end of the year.

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval’s former deputy chief of staff, Ann Wilkinson, has been named the new National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges’ director of human resources.

Clark County School District Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky was named Superintendent of the Year by Magnet Schools of America. The following schools earned the 2016-17 MSA Magnet School of Excellence Award: Advanced Technologies Academy, CVT Gilbert Magnet School, Ed W. Clark High School, James Cashman Middle School, Southeast Career Technical Academy, Thurman White Academy of the Performing Arts, Valley High School (Academy of Hospitality and Tourism), Veterans Tribute Career & Technical Academy and Walter Bracken STEAM Academy. The following schools earned the 2016-17 Magnet School of Distinction Award: Canyon Springs High School, Desert Pines High School (Academy of Communications & Information Technology and Academy of Hospitality), East Career and Technical Academy, Jim Bridger Middle School, Jo Mackey Academy of Leadership and Global Communication through Technology, K.O. Knudson Middle School, Kit Carson International Academy, Las Vegas Academy of the Arts, Northwest Career and Technical Academy, Rancho High School (Aviation Science & Technology), Roy Martin Middle School, Sandy Searles Miller Academy For International Studies, Southwest Career and Technical Academy and West Career and Technical Academy.

Eleven members and nine businesses joined the Las Vegas Hospitality Association: Jimi Bowers, CEO and founder of Bizvid.com; Natali Viola, sales and marketing manager of Chica; Steven Cuccio, owner of Food Tours of America Las Vegas; Kelly Saito, Plaza catering and conference services manager; Melissa Roclevitch, Plaza catering and convention services manager; Michele Marsee, Plaza director of sales; Stephen Koch, president and CEO of Stephen Koch LLC; Alexis Marshall, operations manager of the Industrial Event Space; Jacque Payne, vice president of business and client development of the Tour Exchange; Melissa Haereiti of TimeWeavers Photography; and Heather Rappaport, assistant director of sales and business operations of UNLV Student Union & Event Services.

Three Square Food Bank’s board of directors elected Shawn Gerstenberger of UNLV as the 2017 board chair, succeeding Anita Romero. Dallas Haun of Nevada State Bank has been appointed board secretary. Other additions to Three Square’s board include Richard Crawford of the Crawford Group, Richard Broome of Caesars Entertainment, Doug Christensen of Wells Fargo Bank, Ryann Juden of the city of North Las Vegas and Eric Aldrian of Wynn Resorts.

CPLC Nevada announced the 2017 Esperanza Latino Teacher Awards recipients. Carla Siller of Ira J. Earl Elementary School and Sergio A. Lopes of Chaparral High School won Latino Educator Awards. Bambi Friley of Robinson Middle school won the Multicultural Educator Award. CPLC Nevada is an affiliate of Chicanos Por la Causa, a community development organization.

First Federal Realty DeSimone broke ground on Atlas Storage, a four-acre project in Henderson consisting of 40,000 square feet of mini-storage, with both covered and enclosed boat, vehicle and RV parking spaces.

The Nevada National Security Site signed a cooperative research and development agreement with Praxis Aerospace Concepts International to develop and test advances in drones. The systems will be developed to aid with traffic management, command and control during emergency situations, and drone countermeasures.

GameCo Inc. entered into a license agreement with CBS Consumer Products. The company will develop a skill-based gambling video game based on the “Star Trek” franchise. Set to debut this fall, GameCo’s first game under the agreement is expected to be “Star Trek Deep Space Nine Adventure.”

The Plaza spent $25,000 to upgrade the furnishings at its pool and $300,000 to upgrade five suites that have access to the pool deck.

Western Elite has been contracted by GES to provide recycling for all events and waste management for the company’s trade show projects in Las Vegas.

The Emerald Island Casino is using Snykros from Konami Gaming to manage gaming and nongaming aspects of the property.

Nevada Public Radio’s commercial-free music channel is streaming at NV89.org and on KNPR HD3.

DSquared2 is open at the Shops at Crystals. The 2,200-square-foot store is the brand’s fourth flagship location in the United States.

Shorewood Real Estate was recognized by the annual research reports, REAL Trends 500, and RIS Media’s Power Brokers as one of the top 500 residential real estate firms in the nation by volume and units in 2016. Shorewood ranked within the top fifth of the 500 firms recognized.

Proof Tavern is open at MonteLago Village at Lake Las Vegas.

Gaming Laboratories International was authorized by the Michigan Gaming Control Board to be a designated test laboratory for the state.

Spring Valley and Summerlin hospitals both reduced the number of elective inductions and cesarean deliveries performed before 39 completed weeks of pregnancy in calendar year 2016. All data provided met the March of Dimes’ criteria of an early elective delivery rate of 3 percent or less. March of Dimes is partnering with the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services; Division of Public and Behavioral Health and the Nevada Hospital Association to recognize Nevada birthing hospitals that pledge to eliminate early elective deliveries.

Southern Hills Hospital’s new Family Medicine Residency Graduate Medical Education program received initial accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. ACGME evaluates and accredits graduate medical education programs.
